5 Hacks to Fly for Less

I’m sure you have a lot of getaways planned for spring and summer buy you know how airfare takes a big chunk out of your travel budget, right?

Finding ways to save on accommodation, food and activities is easy but what’s challenging is to find cheap air tickets.

So in order to help you feed the wanderlust in you without making a big damage on your bank account, here’s a list of helpful hacks to fly for less.

1. Make sure to plan in advance.

If you want a reasonable price, don’t book last minute.  Airfare can significantly increase in a span of few weeks so if you already have a fixed date and destination, book your tickets right away.  According to research, flights booked seven weeks in advance will save you a lot of money. That’s enough time to plan for your summer travels!

2. Sign up for newsletters.

If you normally opt out of receiving email alerts, make this one an exception.  Sign up for newsletters from airline companies to receive alerts on seat sale discounts.

3. Search for the cheapest destination.

For those who want to travel but don’t have a specific destination yet, a tool called Kayak Explore can help you pick a place with the cheapest offer.  On the other hand, if you already have a set destination and travel date, you can still go to the site to find the cheapest route.

4. Browse in private with incognito mode.

Prices can increase when the browser senses (a.k.a the cookies in your browser) that a particular route is repeatedly searched.  Before you start your search, go incognito or private browsing mode to see the real and the lowest prices.

5. Book your ticket in the middle of the week.

If you’ve already decided on a destination, travel date and airline, book in the middle of the week because several experiments show that prices can go up during Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays.
